As the newly-crowned Commissioner's Cup champions for 2017 went wild inside their locker room at the Big Dome, one particular player was caught with a drink that is most definitely not beer. Alex Cabagnot zagged when everybody else zigged and opened a tetra pak of chocolate milk instead.
Beer was naturally the beverage of choice when San Miguel celebrated its latest PBA title Sunday.
Aside from beer, what was the next choice really? The team is called San Miguel Beermen for crying out loud.
Still, as the newly-crowned Commissioner's Cup champions for 2017 went wild inside their locker room at the Big Dome, one particular player was caught with a drink that is most definitely not beer.
Finals MVP Alex Cabagnot was seen on screen opening a tetra pak of chocolate milk.
Blame all the post-game interviews he had to do for winning MVP of the Finals because Cabagnot says he simply ran out of beer cans to open so he had to go into his personal stash of chocolate milk to continue celebrating in the locker room with some sort of drink.
"No, no! It's not Chuckie, it's Chocolait. Magnolia Chocolait, San Miguel product," Cabagnot said first with a laugh to clear some confusion about his chocolate drink.
"Actually, I got there [in the locker room] and there was nothing left to pour. So I just decided to pour that," he added on why he decided to open and drink chocolate milk on national television.
Now one might wonder why a 34-year-old professional basketball player keeps a steady stash of drinks marketed towards elementary school students ready during the PBA Finals.
Well, his regular drink ran out for playing consecutive games for the better part of last month so he had to reach.
His mother company came through of course.
"Every game I usually have whey protein pero naubusan na ako ‘cause we’ve been playing every day. Naubusan na ako," Cabagnot said on the reason why he had to go the chocolate milk route.
"The Chocolait was my personal stash. I buy it all the time. No, actually they [San Miguel Corp.] give me a stash," he added.
Well, in helping the Beermen win a fifth title over the last eight conferences, Cabagnot cane have all the Chocolait tetra paks that he wants.
