Matthew Wright finished with a perfect 5-of-5 from deep as Gilas Pilipinas blasted India in the Jones Cup.
Gilas Pilipinas was finally unleashed in the 2017 William Jones Cup.
The Philippines blasted India on Saturday, scoring a convincing 101-70 victory at the Taipei Peace International Basketball Hall.
After a close opening period, Gilas dominated the Indians in the second, outscoring the opposition by 20 points, 27-7, to put the game away early.
The Philippines settled down in the second half but it was still enough for its best win of the tournament so far as the national team waxed hot from deep, converting on 17 triples.
Matthew Wright was the high man for Gilas as the Fil-Canadian shooter went a perfect 5-of-5 from deep to finish with 19 points.
Almond Vosotros and Von Pessumal added 14 apiece off the bench after both gunners connected on four triples each.
Now with a 5-3 record, Gilas Pilipinas will wrap up its Jones Cup stint with a matchup against Asian rival Iran on Sunday.
