Star dominates Blackwater to open Governors' Cup

PJ Simon scored 20 points and Star took its first win in the Governors' Cup at the expense of Blackwater.
Star's Governors' Cup campaign is off to a fine start.
The Hotshots opened the season-ending conference Sunday at the Big Dome with a convicing win over Blackwater, pulling away in the fourth period to score a 103-86 victory.
With the Elite hanging around after three quarters, Star took control in the last 12 minutes, even leading by as many as 21 points, 101-80.
"We just tried to limit them to under 90 points, yung ang goal namin at na-achieve naman namin," head coach Chito Victolero said.
"We tighthened our defense in the second half. Good thing na pag maganda depensa namin, maganda rin nangyayari sa opensa namin," he added.
PJ Simon was fantastic for the Hotshots, scoring 20 points off the bench on a fiery 80 percent shooting from the field. Import Cinmeon 15 points, eight points, five assists.
Allein Maliksi also put up 15 points while Ian Sangalang was good for 14 also off the bench.
The Elite started off strong, opening the game on a quick 6-0 blast. Star would settle down however, maintaining a good lead before breaking the game wide open come the payoff period.
Import Trevis Simpson led the way for Blackwater, going for 24 points and eight rebounds. Mike Digregorio and JP Erram scored 11 apiece for the Elite.
