"As the size gets smaller and the number dwindles, the fight grows as the heart expands even more." --- Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes.
Suffering another big blow before its campaign actually even starts, Gilas Pilipinas remains defiant as the national team heads to Lebanon for the 2017 FIBA-Asia Cup.
On the eve of the national team's flight to Beirut, news broke out that June Mar Fajardo will be missing the Asian championships due to a strained calf muscle.
With this latest development, coupled with Andray Blatche also out and the team cramming everything in terms of preparation, it appears that Gilas Pilipinas will have no other choice but to resort to a tried and tested element as they face Asia's elite.
That's right, Gilas' "Puso" will be tested now more than ever as the country hopes to regain the Asian title for the first time since 1985.
National team head coach Chot Reyes looks dead set on making sure his players never forget to bring their fighting hearts to Lebanon, putting out this tweet after Fajardo's injury became known.

The Philppines will open group play against defending champion China on August 9, an early Finals rematch from the 2015 gold medal game.
