Fajardo to miss FIBA-Asia Cup after suffering injury

June Mar Fajardo will miss the 2017 FIBA-Asia Cup in Lebanon after suffering from a strained calf muscle.
Gilas Pilipinas will have to wait before it truly releases the Kraken.
On the eve of the national team's trip to Lebanon for the 2017 FIBA-Asia Cup, reports have surfaced that San Miguel slotman June Mar Fajardo will miss the continental championships after suffering injury.
PBA Press Coprs president Gerry Ramos of Spin.ph, Musong Castillo of the Phiippine Daily Inquirer, and Nelson Beltran of the Philippine Star all report that San Miguel has informed the PBA Commissioner's Office of Fajardo's health status.
The reigning three-time league MVP was said to suffer from a strained calf muscle during the Beermen's game against the TNT KaTropa last Wednesday in the ongoing Governors' Cup.
Gilas Pilipinas will already miss the services of naturalized center Andray Blatche for the FIBA-Asia Cup where the Philippines is looking to improve upon it's back-to-back 2nd place finishes.
While Fajardo will miss the tournament set for August 8-20 in Beirut, Castillo reports that June Mar will travel with the team.
Gilas will open group play against defending champion China on Wednesday, August 9.
