Playing long minutes is a sacrifice Castro has to make for Gilas and TNT

"So kahit ako, even na pagod na talaga, kailangan ko ipakita na hindi kami mag-gi-give up. Buti na lang nanalo." --- Jayson Castro.
Jayson Castro's basketball life must be really tough, being tasked to anchor two separate teams.
Actually, it is. It's tough being the leader of TNT in the PBA and Gilas Pilipinas for major FIBA tournaments.
And on the eve of the national team's trip to Lebanon to compete for the 2017 Asian Championships, the Blur still had to log in almost 40 minutes of play for the KaTropa, even hitting the final dagger that allowed TNT to walk away with a victory over the Alaska Aces in the 2017 Governors' Cup.
"Ganun talaga kasi kailangan naming manalo bago yung long break namin," Castro said after seeing action for 39 minutes and 24 seconds against Alaska.
"So kahit ako, even na pagod na talaga, kailangan ko ipakita na hindi kami mag-gi-give up. Buti na lang nanalo," he added.
In playing almost 40 minutes, the Blur once again barely missed out on a triple-double, posting 23 points, nine rebounds, 10 assists, and two steals.
Despite another gaudy stat line, Castro says the only number that matters to him is TNT's number of victories. The KaTropa currently have two in three games so far.
"Alam niyo naman na never kong hinabol yung stats," he said.
"As long as panalo lang, masaya na ako," Castro said.
