RR Pogoy once again made his case as the most clutch rookie in the PBA.
Also, one of the more clutch players in the PBA period.
In helping TNT rally from a 14-point deficit against the Alaska Aces Friday in the Governors' Cup, the rookie out of FEU fired 22 of his 25 total points in the second half.
Sixteen of those came in the fourth quarter including back-to-back booming treys from the opposite corners to give the KaTropa a 102-101 lead in the payoff period.
To make his perfomance even more impressive, the Gilas cadet was a blistering 7-of-8 from deep and 8-of-11 overall, making almost everything in sight.
Despite this however, Pogoy maintains that he's merely playing to the system of coach Nash Racela with TNT.
"Nilaro lang namin yung tamang basketball," he said.
"Hinanap namin yung open. Yun, ako yung open sa corner eh, buti na lang pumapasok," Pogoy added.
Playing his last game for TNT before flying to Lebanon for Gilas Pilipinas' FIBA-Asia Cup campaign, Pogoy likewise mentioned his team's sense of urgency against a hungry Alaska squad.
Entering the game on a franchise-worst 11-game losing skid, the Aces were determined to snap their skid. They almost did but Pogoy and the KaTropa had something else in mind.
"Alam naman natin na gigil na sila manalo," Pogoy said of the Aces.
"Sa dugout pa lang, sabi na ni coach Nash na mas delikado yung Alaska ngayon," he added.
