TNT's clutch shooting extends Alaska misery
RR Pogoy waxed hot from deep, making seven triple to help TNT keep Alaska reeling.

Big time players make big time plays.

TNT relied on three of its clutch shooters late against Alaska in the 2017 Governors' Cup, coming back in the fourth quarter to score a pulsating 107-106 win over the Aces Friday at the Big Dome.

Down by as many as 14 points, the KaTropa rallied to once again frustrate the Aces, who have now lost 12 straight games dating back to the Commissioner's Cup.

Rookie RR Pogoy first fired the crucial blows for TNT as a corner three in front of the KaTropa bench tied the count at 99-all.

After Buck Henton regained the lead for Alaska, Pogoy came right back and hit a booming stepback triple from the other corner of TNT's side of the court to push the KaTropa on top, 102-101.

Henton would keep battling for the Aces but Ranidel De Ocampo hit a long two from the top of the key to allow TNT to stay on top. Then, with 47 seconds to go, Jayson Castro would land the dagger as the Blur stepped in for yet another clutch three for the KaTropa for a 107-103 lead.

The Aces managed to cut it to one following a Henton triple but Alaska would fail to connect on its final possession, missing to attempts as the buzzer sounded.

"We knew all along that more and more, Alaska's becoming a dangerous team. I've followed them for a couple of games this conference and they've been really playing well, the effort is there and I think coach Alex has done a marvelous job leading them and just trying to motivate them despite the situation they are in," head coach Nash Racela said.

"I think it's a matter of time na mananalo din sila. I really didn't want it to happen today, I was really scared of Alaska," he added.

The hero of the fourth quarter, Pogoy fired 16 of his 25 points in the final 12 minutes and was a blistering 7-of-8 from downtown. Castro flirted with a triple-double anew and added 23 points, nine rebounds, 10 assists, and two steals.

Despite fouling out, import Michael Craig still actually led the now 2-1 KaTropa, going for 28 points on top of 19 rebounds and four dimes.

Suffering another sorry defeat, Alaska wasted Henton's 42-point, 22-rebound performance. The Aces dropped to 0-4 for the conference.

The returning Calvin Abueva was Alaska's top local, scoring 19 points wit h11 boards.
