"Syempre sasama ako. Tapos pag okay naman, lalaro ako." --- June Mar Fajardo.
Turns out June Mar Fajardo is not entirely out of the FIBA-Asia Cup.
The man said so himself.
Appearing from the San Miguel dugout Friday after the Beermen's 98-104 loss to Star in the Governors' Cup, Fajardo admitted that his right calf hurts, especially when taking the stairs, but is not ready to concede to not playing for Gilas Pilipinas at all in the Asian Championships set for next week.
For one, the Kraken will travel with the national team to Lebanon and will see how it goes from there.
"Masakit eh. Nung last game namin parang yun na. Tapos yung result naman nung ultrasound kahapon parang yung lumang tear daw tapos parang nabugbog tapos masakit," Fajardo said talking about his injury.
"Masakit, lalo na pag umaakyat sa hagdan," he added.
The reigning three-time PBA MVP mentioned that doctors advised him to take a week of rest before starting therapy.
However, if he feels that he's good to go in Beirut, he will play.
That plan has the blessing of the San Miguel management and it's ultimately a decision only Fajardo can make.
"Syempre sasama ako. Tapos pag okay naman, lalaro ako," he said on his plans for Lebanon.
"Depende sakin yun eh," Fajardo adds. "Tignan natin kung ano yung progress. Syempre future eh, baka ma-prolong pa yung injury. Mahirap na. Pero syempre gusto ko maglaro."
