While the Star Magic All-Star basketball game was a chance for Kapamilya Stars to shine on the basketball court, there were also a few professional basketball stars in attendance, namely PBA legend LA Tenorio of Baranggay Ginebra.
The Gin Kings floor general was present at the All-Star Game, Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum, to show support for Kapamilya Star buddies Zanjoe Marudo, Rayver Cruz, and Daniel Padilla, all of whom were taking part in the exhibition contest.
When everything was said and done however, the Pinoy basketball star was nothing short of impressed with what he saw on the floor from the big screen and small screen stars.
"Very exciting, nakakatuwa pala sila panoorin talaga, kasi sa TV ko lang sila napanood nun." Tenorio told ABS-CBN Sports. It was the PBA star's first time to check the game out, having missed last year's edition. "Sobrang nag-enjoy ako. Hindi kasi tayo sanay na mapanood sa basketball court ‘tong mga artistang ‘to, so para maiba lang, pero grabe, lahat sila magagaling maglaro ng basketball. Enjoy, enjoy yung game."
Indeed, the Kapamilya Stars balled out, especially MVP Gerald Anderson, who dropped 42 points to lead his Team Blue past Daniel Padilla's Team Red. Padilla recorded 15 points of his own.
The Kapamilya Star that impressed "Tinyente" Tenorio the most however, was Hashtag member Ronnie Alonte.
"Kay Ronnie Alonte, sobrang nagulat ako kay Ronnie Alonte, ganun pala siya maglaro."
Alonte, a former University of Perpetual Help Systems Laguna standout, led Team Red with 38 markers and easily became one of the day's crowd favorites, sparking a near-comeback in the second half of the match.
More than the Kapamilya Stars getting to show off their skills on the hardwood, Tenorio added that this was also a definite treat for the fans, especially the fans of these respective artists, who get a chance to see their idols excel in a different setting.
"Unang-una, para sa mga Pilipino, para sa lahat ng fans, hindi lang mga basketball fans, siyempre yung mga fans din ng mga artista, kasi sinasabi ko nga na sanay silang makita yung mga artista sa TV, sa big screen, ngayon, para maiba lang, para lang may ibang atmosphere, makita nila yung mga idol na mga artista na naglalaro sa basketball court, napakalaking bagay nun,"
When asked if Tenorio would catch next year's festivities, it was a no-brainer for the hardcourt hero.
"Oo, oo naman. Syempre. For sure."
