BOOST. Christian Stanhardinger will be suiting up for defending champion Hong Kong and will be up against his kabaybayans in Alab Pilipinas in the ABL.
As if they needed it, the defending champions in the Asean Basketball league will get another big-time addition to its already loaded lineup.
And that big-time addition hails from the country positioning itself as their foremost rival.
According to reports, Hong Kong is poised to welcome Christian Stanhardinger to its roster for the looming 2017-2018 ABL.
The development was broken by the six-foot-eight center’s agency, You First Basket, in a tweet.
You First Basket is a Madrid-based agency that manages basketball and football players.
Stanhardinger, the Filipino-German who is making a name for himself with Gilas Pilipinas, will be bolstering a championship-winning lineup that had World MVP Marcus Elliott, Asian Heritage MVP Tyler Lamb, and NBA pro Josh Boone a season ago.
In his stint with the Philippine national team in the ongoing FIBA Asia, the 28-year-old has been averaging 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds.
His addition to the Eastern Long Lions means he will be going up against his kababayans in Alab Pilipinas.
Last year, the Filipinos only won once in four games against Hong Kong.
Alab Pilipinas, which will now be guided by new head coach Jimmy Alapag, as well as Stanhardinger and Hong Kong will once again see action in the ABL commencing later in the year. All of the action will still be on S+A, S+A HD, and sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/abl.
