That's back-to-back wins now for Roi Sumang and the Blackwater Elite.
Behind the unconscious scoring effort by Roi Sumang, Blackwater has finally put together a decent winning streak in the PBA Governors' Cup.
With Sumang exploding on offense, the Elite upset the NLEX Road Warriors Friday, scoring a pulsating 107-106 win at the Big Dome.
Sumang scored a career-high 32 points, 17 in the second quarter, to power Blackwater to its second win in a row in the season-ending conference.
However, it was import Henry Walker that preserved the win for the Elite as his incredible chasedown block on JR Quinahan in the final seconds allowed Blackwater to hold on to a one-point lead. Larry Fonacier then missed the game-winning jumper for NLEX with exactly one second to go.
"Everything is on the next level. Their attitude, their confidence, the togetherness of the players, everything is on the next level," head coach Leo Isaac said.
"We hope we can continue going up so we can sustain our mini two-game run. It would just be proper handling of the players going into the next games," he added.
Behind Sumang's career outing, Walker finished with 29 points for Blackwater on top of 15 rebounds and six assists. Mike Digregorio added 18.
Six players scored in double figures for NLEX led by Kevin Alas' 19 but the Road Warriors dropped their second game in their last three outings.
Still, NLEX maintains a 5-2 record in the Governors' Cup.
