Star burns Phoenix again in latest show of force
Heading into this outing, Star is 4-0 against Phoenix all season long with the average margin of victories coming in at an incredible 28.5 points per game.

The season is almost done and yet Phoenix still can't figure out Star.

Re-asserting their mastery, the Hotshots scored another dominant win over the Fuel Masters, this time a 100-81 decision Wednesday at the MOA Arena for the 2017 Governors' Cup.

Heading into this outing, Star is 4-0 against Phoenix all season long with the average margin of victories coming in at an incredible 28.5 points per game.

With this latest 19-point win, Star moved to 4-0 in the season-ending joust, the last undefeated squad in the 12-team field.

After a close first, the Hotshots clamped down on defense in the second, taking the fight out of the Fuel Masters. Star unloaded a mini 7-0 run in the third to take a double-digit lead before eventually leading by as many as 20 points in the fourth period.

"It's a total team effort, I'm very proud of the players the way we played defense. We limited them under 90 points and we prepared hard for this game because we had a 19-day break, medyo mahirap kasi wala kaming competition," head coach Chito Victolero said.

"Nung second quarter medyo madaming breakdowns sa depensa, they scored 27 points dun sa second quarter. I think naka-recover naman kami sa second half, we adjusted and yun nga, maganda yung depensa, lalo na dun sa import nila," he added.

Six players scored in double figures for Star led by import Malcolm Hill's 20 points. Paul Lee was the top local with 18 followed by 13 points from Aldrech Ramos.

Phoenix, who lost a fifth straight game to drop to 2-5, got 33 points and 23 rebounds from Brandon Brown, however, he also committed 10 turnovers.

Jeff Chan was the only other Fuel Master in double digits with 14 points but he left the game early after suffering from an apparent case of cramps.
