Christian Standhardinger had another double-double performance as Gilas Pilipinas advanced to the Finals of the 2017 Southeast Asian Games.
It wasn't the ideal time for Gilas Pilipinas to struggle from deep.
Despite firing mostly blanks from the outside, the Philippines will still advance to the gold medal game of men's basketball in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games.
Gilas Pilipinas powered through Singapore in the semifinals of the biennial meet, scoring a tough 68-60 win Friday at the MABA Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Philippines will face either Indonesia or Thailand for the title.
After back-to-back dominant wins to secure first place in Group A, Gilas started sloppy against Singapore in the first quarter. The national team picked up steam in the second but the Lion City kept things close at the break.
Gilas opened up a 15-point lead early in the second half but Singapore continued to rally, cutting the lead down to five, 53-48, before a 7-0 run gave the Philippines some much-needed separation.
Troy Rosario was the leading scorer for Gilas, dropping 14 points, while Christian Standhardinger posted 13. Mike Tolomia was good for 10 points off the bench.
Russel Low Wenqiang was the high man for Singapore after scoring 14 points.
