Glen Rice Jr. dropped 38 points as the KaTropa got back on the winning track in the Governors' Cup.
TNT sure had a quick turnaround after absoring a crushing 32-point beating in its last game.
Welcoming back Jayson Castro and RR Pogoy from Gilas Pilipinas, the KaTropa kept Phoenix reeling in the 2017 PBA Governors' Cup, taking a tough 110-103 win Friday at the Big Dome.
Destroyed by Rain or Shine last Sunday, TNT improved to 3-2 for the season-ending joust while dropping Phoenix to 2-6. The Fuel Masters have now lost six straight games after a perfect 2-0 start.
With TNT struggling in the first half, import Glen Rice Jr. exploded in the third period as the KaTropa took control.
Rice Jr. dropped 20 points in the quarter and TNT took a seven-point lead that they would later preserve for the win.
"We went to this game with the hope of Glen playing a lot better than he played last game and he did," head coach Nash Racela said after Rice debuted with only 19 points against Rain or Shine.
"Plus the addition of our Gilas players, going to the game we knew we would play Roger [Pogoy] but not really sure about Jayson [Castro]," he added.
Pogoy played his usual minutes but the Blur logged in less than 20 minutes vs. the Fuel Masters.
After Rice, Kelly Williams led TNT's local crew with 18 points off the bench while Ranidel De Ocampo added 14. Pogoy finished with 13 points and Castro was good for 11.
Brandon Brown carried Phoenix all game long, scoring 49 points on top of 19 rebounds and five assists but it came in another losing effort. Joseph Eriobu added 12 for the Fuel Masters.
