"My dad did that." -- Kobe Paras on Benjie's legendary achievements with the U.P. Fighting Maroons.
What's in a basketball jersey?
For Gilas Pilipinas breakout star Kobe Paras, a certain University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons jersey represents more than just a name and a number.
In a tweet, Kobe shared a photo of himself, proudly rocking his father Benjie's no. 14 State U jersey, similar to what the older Paras wore during his storied UAAP career.

Benjie has been a legend of sorts in the Philippine basketball, being the ONLY rookie-Most Valuable Player in the PBA.
The "Tower of Power" was also part of the Fighting Maroons' Fab Five, who delivered UP's first and so far, lone UAAP men's seniors basketball title when they won it all way back in Season 49. The elder Paras was only a freshman in that 1986 title squad.
Now, Kobe is making a name for himself as one of the most exciting Filipino basketball prospects.
After helping Gilas Pilipinas claim gold in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games, he's more ready than ever to see action in U.S. NCAA Division I, where he's set to play for the Cal State Northridge Matadors next year after siting out a season as a transferee.
