Batang Pier outgun TNT in Antipolo
Stanley Pringle powered Globalport over TNT in the Governors' Cup.

Antipolo City --- Globalport proved to be the more explosive team Friday night.

The Batang Pier went on a crucial run in the fourth and just had enough to hold off a final TNT rally, scoring a 119-112 win in the Governors' Cup at the Ynares Center here.

With the KaTropa keeping it close, Globalport scored eight unanswered points to take a commanding 15-point lead, 109-94, with less than six minutes to go.

However, TNT would try to come back led by RR Pogoy and the flagship MVP francise managed to cut the deficit down to six, 105-111, before the Batang Pier hit timely baskets down the stretch.

"It's a morale-boosting win for us. I guess it worked to our advantage that TNT just played last Wednesday. I think they're physically and mentally tired," head coach Franz Pumaren said.

"It gave us an opportunity to really scout them very well for this game defensively," he added as his team improved to an even 3-3 for the conference.

Stanley Pringle did most of the damage for Globalport, dropping a career-high 30 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Sean Anthony was also effective, going for 21 with 10 coming in the final period.

Import Murphy Holloway scored 24 points and grabbed 17 boards. He also dished out five dimes.

TNT struggled from the field as the KaTropa collectively shot only 43 percent from the floor. Glen Rice Jr. did his part, finishing with 39 points and 13 rebounds but he did also turn the ball over 11 times.

Rookie RR Pogoy was on fire, dropping 26 points in a losing effort. Jayson Castro added 15 for TNT who dropped to 4-3.

GLOBALPORT 119 – Pringle 30, Holloway 24, Anthony 21, Romeo 13, Cortez 11, Guinto 9, Baracael 7, Mamaril 4, Hubalde 0, Arana 0, Celiz 0
