Guiao can finally afford jokes as NLEX nears playoff bonus
At 7-2, NLEX needs one more win to practically seal a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals. That means head coach Yeng Guiao is all smiles now and is spitting less profanities each game.

After a disaster start to the PBA season, NLEX is in a pretty good place right now in the Governors' Cup.

The Road Warriors' recent changes that brought them veteran talent to guide their young assets have resulted in the team already winning seven games in the season-ending joust.

At 7-2, NLEX needs one more win to practically seal a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals. That means head coach Yeng Guiao is all smiles now and is spitting less profanities each game.

So happy in fact that he's started to crack some jokes again.

Asked if he plans on doing for moves to strengthen NLEX's upcoming playoff run, Guiao said he does have one thing in mind.

"Baka magpalit kami ng import. Di kami masaya sa import," he said drawing laughter from the members of the press.

Of course, NLEX import Aaron Fuller is actually pretty impressive. Against Globalport Sunday, he finished with 33 points and 17 rebounds.

But back to their current record, Guiao said he's not satisfied yet with seven wins and the team is really looking at winning at least one of their last two games to seal the deal.

You know, just to make sure.

"We don't want a tie. Gusto namin maka-sigurado," Guiao said.

"Because of the quotient system, you can never tell what will happen. So seven wins, I guess it can get you a tie for Top 4. But to be sure, you need eight wins," he added.
