Age is just a number says Charles Rhodes as he maintains his support for Gilas Pilipinas.
National team head coach Chot Reyes heard Charles Rhodes' call but it seems like Gilas Pilipinas might skip the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup best import in regards to its search for a new naturalized player.
Posting on his Twitter account, Reyes says that the Philippine national team will stick to its youth movement, especially when it comes to the search for the country's next reinforcement.
Appreciate the offer of @officialcrhodes to play for Gilas.— Chot Reyes (@coachot) September 5, 2017
We really like his game… (1/2)
...But our mandate in the search for naturalization candidates is to go for youth — in the 23 - 28 yo range. Just like @drayblatche in 2014— Chot Reyes (@coachot) September 5, 2017
Rhodes, who led the Beermen to the mid-season title back in July, just turned 32 years old, a year older than Andray Blatche who just turned 31.
Still, Rhodes says that age is just a number and will continue to support Gilas even if he's not with the team.
Thanks Coach. https://t.co/Uhcsgrrhp3— Charles Rhodes (@officialcrhodes) September 5, 2017
🤷🏾♂️But I understand you are looking for youth. And I hope you all find that. But this is the COLOSSUS, Age ain't nothing but a Number. 🇵🇭— Charles Rhodes (@officialcrhodes) September 5, 2017
Does this mean that Charles' offer to join the Philippine national team stands? It looks like it.
Maybe Gilas will reconsider if push comes to shove. We'll see.
