Down goes Ginebra.

Grand Slam-seeking San Miguel scored its most impressive win of the 2017 Governors' Cup so far, taking down the defending champion Gin Kings, 107-103, Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.

Blowing a 26-point lead, the Beermen had to hold the fort in the final minutes as San Miguel snapped Ginebra's seven-game winning streak.

With the rousing victory, the Beermen climbed to 5-3 in the standings while the Gin Kings dropped to 7-2, tied with idle NLEX for first place.

"Before this game, I'm really worried dahil we're struggling and Ginebra is playing really well," head coach Leo Austria said. "Maybe nanalo kami dito dahil they played a hard game last Friday eh."

"One day preparetion is not enough. I have to commend all the players, they really showed what they had and I'm so proud of them," he added.

Taking advantage of a supposedly tired Gin Kings, the Beermen came off the gates firing, dropping an early 9-0 run to establish a quick 10-point lead.

San Miguel would take a commanding 59-33 advantage in the second half before Ginebra activated its "Never Say Die" mode to stage a comeback.

A comeback that ultimately fall short, unfortunately.

Debuting import Terrence Watson powered the Beermen with 28 points and 17 rebounds while Arwind Santos was once again San Miguel's top local, going for 23 points.

Chris Ross added 20 points while Alex Cabagnot was clutch anew, scoring 11 of his 16 points in the final period.

Six players finished in double figures for Ginebra led by Japeth Aguilar with 18 and LA Tenorio with 17. However, import Justin Brownlee was limited to only 14 points on less than 40 percent shooting from the field.
