Preparation is rushed anew but from the looks of it, Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas will have a good outing in the 2017 FIBA Asia Champions Cup.

Chooks-to-Go scored a big 95-83 win against NLEX-SCTEX Saturday at the Meralco Gym, capping Day 5 of practice ahead of the regional joust in China next week.

Playing in place of Bright Akhuetie, Rodrigue Ebondo powered Chooks-to-Go with 26 points with 15 coming in the second quarter.

Isaiah Austin and Jett Manuel added 13 apiece for Team Pilipinas.

Chooks-to-Go got off to a fast start, taking a lead as many as 17 points in the first half.

However, NLEX-SCTEX, the Philippine team competing in the 2017 Merlion Cup composed of the Cignal Hawkeyes from the PBA D-League, got to within six during the fourth only to falter in the end.

Jason Perkins led the way for NLEX-SCTEX with 21 points.

"Obviously ang sakit sa mata. The players still don't know the system and they still don't know each other and that's very, vert difficult," head coach Chot Reyes said.

"Credit the Cignal team, they're a really good team. Team na talaga sila. Syempre sa Asia, we're going to playing much tougher players," he added.

Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas will play its first game on Sept. 22 against Kazakhstan.
