ANTIPOLO --- Blackwater just completed the playoff picture in the 2017 Governors' Cup.

The Elite scored a statement 118-107 victory over Globalport Sunday at the Ynares Center here, taking the suspense out of which eight teams will make up the postseason in the season-ending joust.

Blackwater, who moved to an even 5-5, eliminated both the Batang Pier (3-7) and the Alaska Aces (3-7).

Behind the firepower of new gunner Allein Maliksi, the Elite pulled away in the middle quarters, taking full advantage of Terrence Romeo's ejection with 5:01 to go in the second period.

The Bro was called for a flagrant foul penalty 2 late in the first half after he threw the basketball at Blackwater import Henry Walker followin a turnover.

With that development, the Elite went full steam ahead, taking an 85-64 lead in the third before the Batang Pier charged in the fourth, cutting the deficit down to six, 105-111, late in the game behind import Murphey Holloway and Stanley Pringle.

"Pre-game instruction was very simple, avoid any complications. A win against Global will put us in a spot in the playoffs," head coach Leo Isaac said.

"Every instruction was geared towards getting that win. Luckily, we wre able to withstand Global's comeback in the fourth quarter," he added.

Maliksi was the high man for the Elite, dropping 22 points in his team debut on top of five rebounds. Roi Sumang came off the bench and added another 21 points.

Walker was inspirational as per usual for Blackwater, finishing with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Absorbing a fourth straight defeat, Globalport missed the playoffs for the first time this season. Holloway led the way with 28 points and 23 rebounds for the Batang Pier while Pringle was good for 27.

Romeo, who had to watch the rest of the game inside the press room, dropped 13 points in 14 and a half minutes before his untimely ejection.
