Yeng wants Standhardinger or Kiefer at NLEX next season
Yeng Guiao's NLEX Road Warriors will have a high pick in the upcoming Draft and it's either Christian Standhardinger or Kiefer Ravena.

Yeng Guiao's first season with NLEX didn't exactly go according to plan.

Fortunately, after a disastrous start, the Road Warriors started to see the light during the Governors' Cup, making the playoffs with the third-best record in the league.

But Guiao is not about making early playoff exits, he wants championships. After failing to meet expectationts in year 1, year 2 already has some big promise.

The Road Warriors have a top pick in the upcoming draft and there's some legit game-changers in the upcoming batch of rookies.

"Nothing but the obvious no so kung si [Christian] Standhardinger ang No. 1, siguro Kiefer [Ravena].Kung si Kiefer ang No. 1, Standhardinger kami kasi most likely No. 2 naman kami, so it's really that obvious," Guiao said after NLEX's season officially ended at the hands of Star in the Governors' Cup quarterfinals.

"Then we have another draft very early in the second round so yun siguro titignan mo na lang sino best available talent," he added.

But before NLEX moves on to a new season, one can't deny the fact that the Guiao era with the Road Warriors was rather disappointing.

That's why it's almost necessary to ace the upcoming draft, adding young talent to the veteran team coach Yeng managed to build through trades over the past two conferences.

"It’s disappointing. We are really saddened actually by the turn of events, but situations like this, you always have to look at the positive side," he said.

"It’s an improvement from our first two conferences. I guess we will probably draft second place with the situation. So now, we’re looking forward to building up from the draft and from opportunities with trades, maybe in the free agency. We will keep on looking at our pieces and try to put together a team that can contend at the highest level," Guiao added.
