After sweeping Star in the semis, Meralco's Jared Dillinger wants another shot at Brgy. Ginebra in the Finals.
Some key members of the Meralco Bolts are sort of playing it safe when it comes to their potential opponent in the 2017 Governors' Cup Finals.
Well, some except Jared Dillinger.
While import Allen Durham and reigning Rookie of the Year Chris Newsome are out there saying they don't mind either Ginebra or TNT, Dillinger wants the Gin Kings.
Like bring on the champs already.
"I mean if you can ask me, I hope we play Ginebra just because they beat us last year and I didn't get a chance out there and help the team," Dillinger said.
He missed the Finals last year after he suffered a hamstring injury. The Bolts lost to the Gin Kings, 2-4.
"This year I'm healthy and we wouldn't want it any other way to play with those guys, get a chance to get some revenge against them," he added.
Dilliner's teammates, mainly Durham and Newsome, want the Gin Kings too but they're also excited about the prospect of a Meralco-TNT Finals.
"It could be nice to have a rematch, but TNT's a great team, Ginebra's a great team, we gotta see how that series finish out. But we're going to prepare for both of them," Durham said.
"Of course, Ginebra would be nice, just because it's the rematch, it's always nice to go up against Ginebra especially in a finals game, the atmosphere is going to be crazy and fans are gonna be there, but TNT is a great team too and of course it's our sister team so winning a finals matchup on your sister team would be too a great feeling," Newsome added.
As of Friday, October 6, the Gin Kings have a 2-1 lead over the KaTropa in their semis series. Game 1 of the 2017 Governors' Cup Finals will tip off next week on October 13.
