With the first round of the Asian Qualifiers just 44 days away, Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes has announced the Philippine national team's initial schedule as they start their journey to make it back FIBA World Cup.
Reyes announce Monday via his Twitter account that the new Gilas Training Camp will open on November 3, three weeks before the Philippines takes on Japan to start Group B play.
To all those asking - Gilas Training Camp starts Nov 3 #💪🇵🇭❤️— Chot Reyes (@coachot) October 9, 2017
Gilas will take on Japan on November 24 at the Komazawa Olympic Park Gymnazium in Tokyo before hosting Chinese Taipei at the Araneta Coliseum three on November 27.
For the training camp, all members of the national team pool and then some should expected to participate as the PBA's 42nd will be over by the end of October.
Since winning the 2017 SEABA Championship, Gilas has played through a number of tournaments leading up to the World Cup qualifiers.
The Philippines finished 4th in the 2017 Jones Cup before landing a rather disappointing 7th in the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup.
To end its three-tournament run, Gilas grabbed gold with relative ease in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games.
Aside from Japan and Taipei, Gilas is pooled with Australia in Group B.
