"No disrespect to the other teams but if, you say Talk 'N Text beat Ginebra and we had to play Talk 'N Text, I wouldn't be as satisfied if we won." --- Jared Dillinger on the thrill of facing Ginebra in a Finals rematch for the Governors' Cup.
After missing the 2016 Governors' Cup Finals due to injury and watching his team lose the title at the buzzer in Game 6, Jared Dillinger has been salivating at the chance to get revenge at Brgy. Ginebra.
Ginebra was the only team Dillinger wanted to face in the Finals. He said earlier this season and now that the rematch is finally set, the Bolts' revenge tour is finally in its last stop.
"I've honestly been dreaming about this," Dillinger said during the official press conference Tuesday, three days before Game 1 of the best-of-7 series.
"No disrespect to the other teams but if, you say Talk 'N Text beat Ginebra and we had to play Talk 'N Text, I wouldn't be as satisfied if we won," he added.
Yes, Jared went there.
Not only the fact that the Gin Kings denied Meralco of a first PBA title last year but the way they won remains as the sole driving force behind the Bolts' quest for revenge.
"Just the way they beat us and I couldn't be there to help the team, it was really tough on me," Dillinger said.
"It's just so surreal right now. I can't wait to just take it to those guys like that's all I think about," he added.
It's still two full days before Ginebra and Meralco take the court at Lucena for Game 1 of the Finals but Dillinger has been ready to go since last week.
Actually, he's been ready to go since last year.
"I think we're just excited at this point. We just wanna play already. It's been so long since we got a rematch in the Finals and finally it's real and I'm not sleeping. I woke up at 3 a.m. ready to go. Just anxious for this thing to start already," he said.
