THIS FIRE BURNS. Dondon Hontiveros will be teaming up with Ray Parks Jr. to bring back the ABL title to the Philippines.
The game’s not yet over for “The Cebuano Hotshot” who is all set to be taking his talents on a tour all around Southeast Asia.
Dondon Hontiveros will be suiting up for the first time in the Asean Basketball League, representing his country in Alab Pilipinas.
The 40-year-old announced his retirement from the PBA a month ago. He last played for Alaska, but made his name as a three-time champion with San Miguel.
Hontiveros will backstop reigning and defending Local MVP Ray Parks Jr. for the Filipino side seeking to better its semifinal finish a season ago.
Now at the helm of Alab Pilipinas is Philippine basketball legend, but rookie head coach Jimmy Alapag.
Joining him as the new faces are import Ivan Johnson and former Singapore Slinger Josh Urbiztondo. Pao Javelona and Pamboy Raymundo will be steadying the backcourt while Rico Maierhofer and Oping Sumalinog will be manning the frontcourt.
Returning for the blue, red, and white are defensive enforcer Lo Domingo and skilled scorer Robby Celiz.
The Alapag-guided and Parks Jr.-bannered Filipinos will once again see action in the ABL commencing later in the year. All of the action will still be on S+A, S+A HD, and sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/abl.
