Rey Nambatac, The Stingrey, is ready to inject his lethal offensive game into the PBA.
Before the PBA Draft this Sunday, let's revisit some of the college highlights of this year's top projected picks to offer a kind of glimpse of what they could bring in the pros.
SCHOOL: Colegio de San Juan de Letran
MONICKER / NICKNAME: The Stingrey
Rey Nambatac left Cagayan de Oro for Manila with nothing but pocket money and his hoop dreams.
Hoping to help his family through the sport he loves, he's slowly grown into one of the most lethal scorers in the amateur ranks in his time with the Letran Knights.
As a solid roleplayer on the season 91 NCAA champion Letran squad, Nambatac rose to prominence in 2016 when he was tasked to lead the Knights' title defense.
Although they fell short of a Final Four berth, Nambatac shone, offering a mix of explosive scoring from both the perimeter and the paint, as well as his quick thinking when it comes to outsmarting bigger, or faster opponents.
His killer offensive talent was no more evident than his ridiculous outburst against San Sebastian College-Recoletos back in 2016, where he dropped an absurb 40 points to lead the Knights over the Stags.
Nambatac, a tried-and-tested cager has shown that he is capable of stepping up when needed, and this is a trait most up-and-coming PBA teams are looking for.
