"No doubt, no. 20 is special not only because of what happened here, 50k still blows my mind. It will still blow my mind for weeks because I’ll be thinking about this." --- Tim Cone.
BOCAUE, BULACAN --- Tim Cone is not about to compare his latest PBA title to the 19 he previously won over the course of his legendary career.
The PBA's all-time leader in PBA championships says that his 20 rings are special in their own right and he loves all of them equally.
"I've always said championships are like your children, you value each one. Each one’s different, each one’s got a different personality but you all love them equally, Cone said Friday after Ginebra won Game 7 of The Rematch at the Philippine Arena here.
It was coach Tim's second championship with Ginebra and 20th overall, extending his lead in the all-time list over Baby Dalupan and Meralco head coach Norman Black.
However, if there is one thing that's too special about championship no. 20, it's the fact that Ginebra won it in front of over 54,000 people.
The 54,086 fans that watched Game 7 is the PBA's new all-time record for attendance.
There's literally no precedent for that number of paying fans... well except Game 6 of this same series when over 53,642 fans watched Ginebra and Meralco do battle.
"Just the fact coming out and playing another Game 7 and being able to win it makes this one special. And of course in front of the crowd," Cone said.
"No doubt, no. 20 is special not only because of what happened here, 50k still blows my mind. It will still blow my mind for weeks because I’ll be thinking about this," he added.
