San Miguel makes obvious choice, takes Standhardinger with first pick

san Miguel finally made it official Sunday, taking Fil-German forward Christian Standhardinger first overall in the 2017 PBA Draft at Robinsons Place Ermita.
The 6'8" Standhardinger will pair with 6'10" June Mar Fajardo, the reigning four-time league MVP, with the Beermen.
Standhardinger, who has a live contract with the Hong Kong Eastern Lions in the Asean Basketball League, was on deck Sunday at Robinsons, joining his new team that was represented by Fajardo of course.
The NLEX Road Warriors made another obvious choice, taking former Ateneo star Kiefer Ravena with the no. 2 pick.
Blackwater made the first surprise of the draft, taking Raymar Jose third overall. Jose will join former FEU teammate Mac Belo with the Elite, forming a young and promising frontline for the Ever Bilena franchise.
Phoenix, looking to solve some of its frontline woes, took former La Salle forward Jason Perkins fourth overall while another Green Archer in Jeron Teng landed at Alaska with the no. 5 pick.
Globalport added another sniper by taking Robbie Herndon with the 6th pick while Rey Nambatac reunited with his former Letran coach at Rain or Shine after the 7th pick.
The Fuel Masters used the 8th pick to continue solving their frontline woes and landed EAC's Sidney Onwubere. Another former NCAA forward is on his way to the PBA with Arellano's Lervin Flores heading to Star as the 9th pick.
TNT owned the next two picks and the KaTropa used them to draft Mark Tallo 10th and Jon Gabriel 11th. Back-to-back Governors' Cup champions Brgy. Ginebra ended the first round by drafting former UP captain Jett Manuel.
