Baldwin, Reyes all-set to mentor 1500 Filipino coaches
WE'VE GOT NEXT. Tab Baldwin, coach of undefeated Ateneo, will share his mind with mentors from all over the country.

Gilas Pilipinas shot-caller Chot Reyes will share the stage with undefeated Ateneo de Manila University tactician Tab Baldwin as they impart their wisdom to around 1, 500 head coaches in the MVP Sports Foundation (MVPSF) Coaches Convention.

Reyes, a multi-titled mentor, and Baldwin, who has led the Blue Eagles to a spotless slate in this UAAP Season 80, will be joined by renowned Australian basketball coach Brett Coxsedge in the event that will run from November 6 to 8 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Coxsedge, who has 20 years of experience coaching in Australia’s National Basketball League, will teach coaching multi-skilled players, creating a competitive training environment, and developing a defensive style of play. “We are excited to have someone the caliber of coach Brett here,” program director Eric Altamirano said.

He then continued, “The outside perspective is crucial also to the development of the game.”

The MVPSF Coaches Convention is an annual gathering of coaches from 80 cities in the country for a three-day seminar and workshop. “Our main thrust is to develop skills, build character, and raise leaders not only among the players, but also the coaches. The coaches play a vital role in the development of the young players especially in the grassroots level,” Altamirano said.

Also slated to share their thoughts are Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Executive Director Sonny Barrios, Alab Pilipinas head coach Jimmy Alapag, Alaska assistant Paolo Layug, Ateneo de Davao athletic director Noli Ayo, 360 Circuit Training founder Chappy Callanta, and PBA panelist Quinito Henson.

The MVPSF Coaches Convention is also the kick-off event of the SM National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) League which culminates in March 2016.
