National team head coach Chot Reyes will push the FIBA deadline to the limit when it comes to naming his final roster for SMART-Gilas Pilipinas' first game of the World Cup Qualifiers against Japan next week.

During the team's official send-off to Tokyo Saturday, Reyes mentioned that the Final 12 against the Japanese, the first game of the first window in the Asian Qualifiers, will most likely be announced on the eve of the Group B opener set for Nov. 24 at the Komazawa Olympic Park Gymnasium.

Reyes, who has 16 players in his pool, is dealing with limited preparation, nagging injuries, and the delayed arrival of naturalized center Andray Blatche.

"We really don't know yet up to this point," Reyes said regarding his final linuep.

"We will make the final lineup the night before when the deadline is due," he added.

Coach Chot says that he's still waiting on the arrival of Blatche before making any final decisions. The naturalized center was supposed to arrive earlier this week but his club team in the Chinese Basketball Association denied his early release.

Blatche had to play two more regular season games before flying to Manila. He's supposedly scheduled to arrive late Saturday evening or early Sunday morning.

With that being said, all 16 Gilas pool members will travel to Tokyo.

"We really don’t know yet if he’s going to arrive tonight. He was originally scheduled to arrive on the 12th or 13th but at the last minute, his Chinese ball club didn’t allow him and asked him to play their last two games last Wednesday and last night," Reyes said on Blatche.

"That's one of the reasons why we're not releasing any lineups unless Andray is actually here," he added.
