Los Angeles Lakers' Filipino members helped spread the Holiday spirit by distributing Thanksgiving meals to the less fortunate over at Inglewood, California.
Lakers Filipino-American swingman Jordan Clarkson gave out around 300 10-pound turkeys to families from Los Angeles.
For the third-year guard, giving back and seeing other people happy makes working on an off day worth it.
"It’s awesome just being able to see how I can affect the community put smiles on people’s faces. Just give back," he said. "That’s one of the things my family, people around me always preach to me something we’ve been involved with since I was in the league."
He even got some help from a couple of Fil-Am Laker girls Kyra and Cameryn as part of the team’s annual Salvation Army thanksgiving meal give Away.
"We knew that we were going to be doing a lot of community events but we didn’t know how it was going to be exactly but this is definitely what we pictured and it feels good," said first-year Laker Girl Kyra.
Cameryn echoes the sentiments of her fellow Laker Girl, "It’s an amazing opportunity to come here help pass out turkeys and pies and feels real good to be a part of something big like this and represent the Lakers," she said.
Meanwhile, Clarkson looks forward to a quiet thanksgiving with a four-day break before the 7-and-10 Lakers take on the Sacramento Kings later this week.
Aside from balling out for the Lakers, Clarkson also has a few more activities planned this holiday season, including a toy drive in the historic Filipinotown.
