The Philippines and Japan are traditional basketball rivals in the Asian basketball scene.

Unlike China and South Korea, Pinoys have had some success against the Japanese, including a two-game sweep in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championships.

Gilas 3.0 beat the Akatsuki Five in the second round of the Asian Championships two years ago and again in the semifinals.

Japan will be out for revenge this time around as the opening round of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers kick off Friday in Tokyo.

With Gilas Pilipinas taking on Japan, see how both countries stack up against each other with this Tale of the Tape.
