Aces avoid winless preseason by dominating ROS

Alaska is not ending its preseason with yet another L.

The Aces picked up steam in the fourth to beat the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters Wednesday, 110-97, to wrap up preseason at the Upper Deck Gym in Ortigas.

Behind a balanced attack, Alaska avoided a winless campaign and finished with a 1-2 mark.

For the third straight outing, Calvin Abueva led the Aces in scoring with 19 points and seven rebounds while rookie Jeron Teng added 15 points on 77 percent shooting from the field.

Four other Aces scored in double figures.

Despite taking the loss, Rain or Shine still won this short pocket tournament with a 2-1 record.

The Elasto Painters took the title since they beat Phoenix in their head-to-head match up. The Fuel Masters likewise ended with a 2-1 mark while NLEX settled for a 1-2 record.

Ed Daquioag led ROS in scoring with 18 points but it wasn't enough to help the Painters overcome a 17-point deficit.
