Start strong, finish stronger.

Phoenix ended PBA preseason play with a 111-104 win over NLEX Wednesday at the Upper Deck Gym in Ortigas.

The Fuel Masters made full use of all their weapons against the Road Warriors, taking a shootout victory to end with a 2-1 record.

Rookie Jason Perkins led the way with 21 points in just 22 and half minutes of play while Jeff Chan fired 17 to go along with seven assists.

Sniper Matthew Wright finished with 15 points and five dimes.

Fresh from beating Alaska the day before, Phoenix came out hot against NLEX, scoring 33 points to open a 14-point lead.

The Fuel Masters extended their advantage to 19 points before the Road Warriors responded in the second half to take the lead in the fourth.

However, LA Revilla hit a booming three to put Phoenix up two, 89-87, and Perkins scored on back-to-back layups to break the game's final tie as Phoenix rolled to victory.

Larry Fonacier paced the 1-2 Road Warriors with 18 points.
