Rachel Anne Daquis is officially a PBA 'veteran'.
Volleyball star Rachel Anne Daquis should also be labelled as a ‘veteran’ of the PBA.
Yes, the Cignal spiker has been a ‘regular’ fixture during the opening rites of the country’s pro basketball league.
The former Far Eastern University volleybelle was tapped for the third time as a PBA team muse, this time by the NLEX Road Warriors during the kick-off of the league’s 43rd season on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.
Though she’s been with different teams in GlobalPort, San Miguel and NLEX or walking the hardwood in venues like the Philippine Arena, MOA Arena and the Big Dome, all those stints have one thing in common.
“Masakit pa rin sa paa, ang sakit na ng paa ko!” said the stunner, who was joined during the parade by another three-time PBA muse in actress Rhian Ramos who was with Phoenix.
For Daquis each stint proved to be a challenge.
“Mas mataas ang heels ko ngayon, six inches na. Mas gusto ko pa rin volleyball shoes,” she said.
“Noong una three inches, naging four inches, tapos naging six, ‘yun ang pagkakaiba ng tatlong ‘yun,” added Daquis, who jested that she’ll try to make a full round of the 12 PBA squads, “Iikutin natin ‘yan (lahat ng teams), ‘di joke lang, joke lang.”
Asked why teams love to get her service as muse, Daquis said she honestly has no idea why.
“Hindi ko alam, ba’t ako ang magsasabi nu’n, nakakahiya,” she said laughing.
