San Miguel starts Philippine Cup title defense
Featuring an intact local core that has dominated the PBA's most prestigious tournament, the Beermen remain heavy favorites as they go for an unprecedented fourth straight Philippine Cup championship.

The PBA is back in business.

The premier basketball league in the country opens for a 43rd season Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum and the best team over the last couple of years will be front and center to start its march for history.

Three-time defending Philippine Cup champion San Miguel will kick off the 2017-2018 season, playing the first game of its title defense in the All-Filipino conference.

The Beermen takes on the new-look Phoenix Fuel Masters in the day's only game at 6:30 p.m.

Featuring an intact local core that has dominated the PBA's most prestigious tournament, the Beermen remain heavy favorites as they go for an unprecedented fourth straight Philippine Cup championship.

Meanwhile, the Fuel Masters will have a new coaching staff to handle a team that experienceda steep decline towards the end of last season.

Before San Miguel and Phoenix take the court, an opening ceremony featuring all 12 teams will take place at the Big Dome first.
