Perkins on his PBA debut: Not good

Jason Perkins did not have a good PBA debut according to Jason Perkins himself.

The top rookie of the Phoenix Fuel Masters got immediately tested in the pros, going up against the superpower known as the San Miguel Beermen.

Aka the defending three-time Philippine Cup Champions.

The former La Salle star forward played almost 22 minutes in his first PBA outing, scoring 10 points and grabbing nine rebounds.

However, he also only shot 41 percent and was a team-worst minus 13 while on the floor.

"Not good. It wasn't good," Perkins said of his first game.

"It wasn't as good as I would've liked to play. But it doesn't really matter how I played, we ended up losing. It's about wins and losses," he added.

The Fuel Masters took a fourth-quarter beating at the hands of the Beermen before ending the day with an eight-point defeat.

Still, despite a bad performance by his standards, Perkins is rather happy he got to face off with the league's top team right away.

"They're a tough team. I'm glad I got to play them first," he said.

With that in mind, Perkins vows to be better moving forward for Phoenix.

"I'm gonna work a lot harder. My IQ is gonna be higher next game. I'm gonna study the game a lot more. Hopefully, I'm gonna keep getting better, Perkins said.
