KG on clutch triple for Bolts: hindi ko sinadya i-board yun
With the Elite threatening to steal a victory, Canaleta drilled a booming triple off the glass with 11 seconds to go to give his new team Meralco a six-point lead.

KG Canaleta is a proven sniper in the PBA but even he had to admit that his clutch three-point dagger against his former Blackwater team was a little fluky.

With the Elite threatening to steal a victory, Canaleta drilled a booming triple off the glass with 11 seconds to go to give his new team Meralco a six-point lead.

The Bolts ended up winning by five points to start the Philippine Cup.

"Nakita ko yung oras paubos na eh sakto pagpasa sakin wala na, tinira ko, medyo malakas, hindi ko sinadya i-board yun pero swerte lang siguro," Canaleta said on his clutch triple.

"Sa hinaba ko na rin sa liga, naisip ko na hindi mo kailangang manggigil, hindi mo kailangang magmadali. Mas makakamali ka, hindi mo magagawa yung gusto mo kapag gigil ka," he added.

KG finished with a strong 25 points, 19 in the second half, to go along with nine rebounds in his first game for Meralco.

Reuniting with head coach Norman Black seemed to help KG in making his adjustment process faster than normal.

"Nakasama ko naman siya sa Talk 'N Text kaya hindi ako masyadong nahirapan," he said.

"May kaunting pressure kasi maliit kami. Kulang kami sa mga legitimate na bigs so more on outside shots, yun yung ini-improve namin ngayon," Canaleta added.
