The Fast and the Furious lives on.
BOCAUE, Bulacan --- The last time we checked, it was Jayjay Helterbrand that retired from Brgy. Ginebra.
However, for the Gin Kings' season-opener at the Philippine Arena here against Magnolia for Christmas Clasico, it was no. 47 that was nowhere to be found and it was no. 13 that saw action.
Well, your eyes are not fooling you as Mark Caguioa has traded his iconic jersey number in favor of that of his former backcourt partner.
There's simply no other reason for Mark Caguioa to make the switch from 47 to 13 other than honoring Helterbrand, right?
Right. And the 2012 MVP says that he'll wear Jayjay's old number for one full conference.
Sought for further comments on the matter, Caguioa politely declined for an interview after Ginebra beat Magnolia to start the Philippine Cup, 89-78.
Caguioa scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds in his first game in Helterbrand's old number. The Fast and the Furious lives on.
