"Meron pa [hinahanap] kaya lang sa May pa ata darating eh. May pa," --- Austria said when asked if he's still looking for something with his team that is 2-0 so far in the Philippine Cup.
ANTIPOLO, Rizal --- You can tell that San Miguel head coach Leo Austria is really, REALLY, excited about a certain 6'8" Fil-German forward coming to town in about five months.
For one, he's not exactly good at hiding such excitement. If he's even trying to, that is.
With his three-time defending champion Beermen off the a 2-0 in the 2018 Philippine Cup, Austria was asked if there's still something he's looking for with his team.
Well, he gave an answer like only he can.
"Meron pa [hinahanap] kaya lang sa May pa ata darating eh. May pa," he said before bursting in laughter Wednesday at the Ynares Arena here.
And in case you didn't know, Austria is talking about his number one pick Christian Standhardinger who, as of now, is tearing it up in the Aseasn Basketball League.
The Beermen are expected to get Standhardinger in the Commissioner's Cup.
But before the big Fil-German arrives though, there is a Philippine Cup to be defended by San Miguel and turning serious, Austria just wants to make it work for his team with his current pieces.
"But right now, I'm trying to maximize our potential and with out first two games, we keep on learning eh," he said.
"We know our strengths and our weaknesses. Tonight's game, kita naman namin yung weakness namin which is inexploit ni coach Norman. Fortunately, the players really wanted to win," Austria added.
