ANTIPOLO, Rizal --- After a bad breakup with his former team, LA Revilla is relieved he finally got to bury the hatchet with Kia.
By playing his first game against the Picanto Wednesday at the Ynares Center here, Revilla feels like he can finally move on.
"At least tapos na, okay na. Happy ako na it's off my chest na," the diminutive point guard said as his new team, Phoenix, demolished his former squad, 125-102 in the Philippine Cup.
"Okay siya, good experience. Two more conferences this season so I guess magkakaroon pa ulit ng chance [to play against Kia]," he added. LA finished with six points and five assists in 22 and a half minutes on the floor.
Playing for three seasons with the Kia, Revilla's exit from the franchise was an ugly one.
Following the approval of a controversial trade between the Picanto and the San Miguel Beer for this year's no. 1 overall pick, Revilla sent out tweets directly criticizing Kia.
Two weeks after the Draft, where the Beermen ended up taking Christian Standhardiner, LA was shipped to Phoenix.
"I'm happy, feeling ko parang ang tagal na ng stay ko sa Phoenix pero come to think of it, parang 2-3 months pa lang," Revilla said.
"Everyday I'm looking forward to practice and getting to know my teammates, coaches, and all the personnel," he added.
Despite the nature of his exit from Kia, Revilla still wishes the Picanto well.
"Before I left naman I did talk to them. In today's game no," LA said.
"They're in a revamp. Na-experience ko na yun before with them so I hope they keep the guys long term para hindi pabago-bago. Mahirap yun ganun eh. I hope they get the right guys," he added.
