Ang saya na nanalo kami ngayon and nakapag-adjust kami agad na galing kami sa talo at naka-bounce back kami -- Blackwater freshman Raymar Jose
Blackwater rookie Raymar Jose was on cloud nine after tasting his first win as a professional player.
The third overall pick finished with 12 points and eight rebounds in the Elite’s 92-87 win over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters Friday in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.
He shot 5-of-11 from the field and even held his own against veteran Elasto Painter bruiser Beau Belga in Blackwater’s first win after two outings.
“Ang sarap ng feeling. Ang saya na nanalo kami ngayon and nakapag-adjust kami agad na galing kami sa talo at naka-bounce back kami,” said the former Far Eastern University standout.
The win was the franchise’s first against Rain or Shine in 12 meetings since Blackwater joined the league in 2014. It was also the Elite’s first win inside the Pasay City venue after 11 tries.
The effort and contribution of Jose, who had a 16-point debut in Blackwater’s opening day loss to Meralco a week ago, drew praises from another former FEU star Mac Belo.
“Siyempre masaya ako (na kakampi ko siya ulit) kasi matagal kaming magkasama sa FEU and ngayon magkasama na kami sa Blackwater,” said Belo of his teammate.
Belo and Jose were the vital cogs during FEU’s championship run in the UAAP back in 2015.
“Alam ko naman kung gaano kalaking contribution ang magagawa niya sa team,” added Belo, who finished with a game-high 25 points. “Minsan sinasabihan ko rin pero alam ko naman na, ano si Toto eh, ‘yung aggressiveness niya, ‘yung effort niya talagang ibinibigay niya every game.”
