Ravena's Christmas debut more special with Valdez watching
"It’s always nice to play when she’s watching, when your family and your loved ones are around supporting you.”

On Christmas Day, PBA rookie and emerging NLEX Road Warriors star Kiefer Ravena put on a show at the Philippine Arena, putting up 20 points to go along with five assists and four steals and a W over Globalport.

It was Ravena’s second-straight impressive outing as he helped lead the Road Warriors to a 2-0 start to the 43rd PBA season, and it earned him Player of the Week honors.

Being that it was his first Christmas Day game at the Philippine Arena, it was already set to be a special night for the second-overall pick, but it became even more special with a special someone in sitting in the crowd.

In attendance was Ravena’s girlfriend, Philippine volleyball star Alyssa Valdez, who was home for the holidays from her stint in Taiwan with club team Attack Line.

“It feels nice to have her around. It’s always like that whenever she’s here.” Ravena said.

And by home for the holidays, we mean three days. Valdez landed on Christmas Eve and then flew back out to Taiwan on December 26th.

While her time with Attack Line is coming to an end and Valdez heading back to Philippine soil to play for the Premier Volleyball League's Creamline club in 2018, Ravena knows that it still won’t be a given that Valdez will be at all his games.

“Being a professional, it comes with a lot of responsibilities, and knowing that sometimes, she’s not gonna be around with games, but we both know how to handle it.”

“Ito na yung buhay namin eh.” Ravena added.

While it surely won’t be the last time that Valdez gets to see Ravena play in the PBA, it was still a special moment for the former Ateneo Blue Eagle to have his special someone around for his best performance in the pros so far.

“For now, having her around, it’s always nice to play when she’s watching, when your family and your loved ones are around supporting you.”
