It all started with the "parking lot" plan coach Louie suggested late last year, about a week and half before the actual game.

One of the funnier side notes in the Phoenix-NLEX game was the father-sone match-up featuring Fuel Masters head coach Louie Alas and Road Warriors guard Kevin Alas.

It all started with the "parking lot" plan coach Louie suggested late last year, about a week and half before the actual game.

For his part, Kevin said he just might now go home the night before the contest.

Turns out that did happen. In fact, both father and son didn't see each other for a week leading up to Sunday's clash.

"Actually, na-miss ko na nga," the elder Alas said about his son after Phoenix ended up winning, 102-95.

"Eight days na kami hindi nagkikita mula noong New Year. Sa Pasig nakatira kasi. Every after the game umuuwi yun, ngayon hindi muna siya umuwi sabi niya concentrate muna. Sabi ko pagkatapos na lang ng game, let's have dinner," he added.

Kevin confirmed him not going home for a week, saying he spent that time preparing to get a win at the expense of his father.

Obviously, it did not end well for him.

"First time akong nanalo sa kanya, at least makaka-bawi naman ako ngayon," the elder Alas said.

"Malungkot ako pero kapag kinantiyawan ako nun, wala ako magagawa di ako pwede maging pikon," Kevin said on what he might expect at home.

"Actually nung Christmas, New Year pingauusapan na naman tong matchup na ito," he added.
