Cone on injured JDV: Joe has no reason to go
Devance has been on the mend since he had surgery to remove bone spurs in his foor after Ginebra's successful title defense in the previous Governors' Cup.

In a rather bold move, Brgy. Ginebra made Joe Devance an unrestricted free agent ast week as the veteran forward continues to recover from a foot injury.

However, don't expect Devance to leave the Gin Kings anytime soon.

"Me and coach Tim, we spoke," Devance said Sunday after the barangay survived Globalport in the Philippine Cup, 104-97.

"Everything's okay with the understanding that we have. It's not really a big issue for me to be where I'm in. I'm fine, I'm happy," he said.

While no one really expect Joe to part ways with Ginebra, other teams are interested in his services now that he's technically available.

Other teams like Phoenix who are in dire need of help up front.

"Sana si Joe Devance available. Unrestricted di ba? Why not? Kailangan ko ng malaki eh," Fuel Masters head coach Louie Alas said.

Phoenix played in the first game, beating NLEX, before Ginebra took the court.

However, it's safe to say that Devance will be returning to Ginebra once he's healthy enough to do so.

"Joe has no reason to go. We know that. We don't feel he's gonna go," Gin Kings coach Tim Cone said.

"We'll put Joe back after three-four weeks, maybe. We talked to him, we're not looking to cut him," he added.
