Go for Gold will have the most all-around backcourt in the PBA D-League with Kent Salado and J-Jay Alejandro
Go for Gold-College of St. Benilde is not messing around as it revs up for its maiden campaign in the PBA D-League.
Not long after recruiting National University standouts J-Jay Alejandro and Matt Salem, the Scratchers have also added Arellano University star Kent Salado to its roster.
Head coach TY Tang confirmed the addition of their former collegiate rival last Tuesday. “These guys are here to help us in every which way they can. knowing that they have experienced what it takes to win, we are certain they will bring positivity to the culture and process we are rebuilding with,” he said.
Salado averaged 18.9 points, 4.9 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.3 steals for the Chiefs who just missed the playoffs a season ago.
Still, Tang made it clear that Go for Gold’s goal for the tournament is not only to win, but also to develop the core of the Blazers who are on its lineup. As he put it, “We want to be competitive as it can get, but at the same time, build and give ample exposure to our players from CSB.”
Salado, Alejandro, and Salem will join forces with Blazers Edward Dixon, Unique Naboa, and Carlo Young now for the Scratchers.
Go for Gold goes to war in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup tipping off on January 18 at Pasig’s Ynares Sports Arena.
