Blackwater gets its statement win over Ginebra
The Elite turned up the heat in the fourth period, outscoring the Gin Kings by 14 points on their way to its second straight win of the season for a 2-1 mark.

Blackwater just put the entire league on notice.

The confident Elite made a serious case about their status as Philippine Cup contenders, taking down Ginebra with a 94-77 statement win Friday at the MOA Arena.

The Elite turned up the heat in the fourth period, outscoring the Gin Kings by 14 points on their way to its second straight win of the season for a 2-1 mark.

Blackwater also handed Ginebra its first loss of the year as the barangay dropped to 2-1.

"It's gonna be something special for our team if we'll be able to hand Ginebra its first loss this conference and on our part, our first win for 2018," head coach Leo Isaac said.

"Luckily, were able to do what we've planned," he added.

Behind the three-headed monster of JP Erram, Mac Belo, and Allein Maliksi, Blackwater was able to counter Greg Slaugher's big game for Ginebra to pick up the win.

The three outscored the Gin Kings in the fourth, 20-16, as the Elite just simply pulled away in the final minutes.

Erram matched Slaugher one-on-one, putting up 22 points , 11 rebounds, and four blocks while Belo also finished with 22, including two booming treys in the last quarter.

Maliksi fired 17 points on top of seven rebounds for Blackwater.

For Ginebra, Slaugher scored 20 points, 14 in the third, to go along with 10 rebounds. LA Tenorio had 16 but struggled shooting from the field, connecting on only 35.7 percent of his attempts.
