Lee, Hotshots stop Ravena and NLEX
With Lee shooting over 60 percent from the field, the Hotshots took over solo second in the standings with a 3-1 record while dropping the Road Warriors to an even 2-2.

Paul Lee lost the personal scoring battle but he won the team war.

Behind its star scorer, Magnolia scored its second straight lopsided win in the 2018 Philippine Cup, this time stopping the NLEX Road Warriors, 105-94, Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.

With Lee shooting over 60 percent from the field, the Hotshots took over solo second in the standings with a 3-1 record while dropping the Road Warriors to an even 2-2.

"Maganda para sa new year namin, kahit papaano ang first two games namin ng new year, kahit papaano maganda mindset ng mga players," head coach Chito Victolero said.

"It's a total team effort, everybody stepped up in defense," he added.

With rookie Robbie Herndon leading the way, Magnolia got off to a fast start against NLEX.

However, the Hotshots really got their groove going in the third, unloading a 10-0 run to go up by 23, 71-48.

Lee fired a team-high 21 points, 12 in the third quarter, to go along with three rebounds and four assists. Rome dela Rosa added 14 for Magnolia while Herndon finished with 11 points, all in the opening period.

For NLEX, Ravena set a new career-high of 31 points only to take a loss. JR Quinahan added 22.
